#SPECIAL S16. NEW YORK CITY

Location: New York City

What you will find: We have been in this amazing city two times. Before leaving Munich we had plenty of guides and information for foodies like us. This time we are not going to recommend you many travel trips, as there are so many guides around internet from a weekend to a full week, just send us a message in case you need one, and do not miss:

A cultural weekend: Day 1: Empire State, Times Square, Rockefeller Center,  Top of the Rock (tickets in advance here – better than Empire State!), Central Park (John L. Strawberry Fields) and any museum you may want as MOMA (Fridays free entrance) or Met // Day 2: Tour by Harlem (Columbia University), Queens, Bronx (Yankees Stadium), Brooklyn, China Town (here or here, or contact Andrew, one of the best guides that do this tour walking newyorkwalking@gmail.com)// Day 3:  Lower Manhattan, helicopter tour (here) and see Liberty Statue in the air (the ferry is not worth it), financial district/ Wall Street, world trade center and memorial 11s. For tours and more info check here.

Where to eat:

-Brunch in a rooftop: 1. Jimmy at the James: Classic for brunch and coktails at night// 2.Gallow green: views of the the High Line and Hudson River and a spread of fried chicken, scrambles, and avocado toast //3.Juliette: French bistro-style charm in Williamsburg //4. Kimberly: outdoor fireplace, front-and-center views of the Chrysler Building, and leather couches that provide the perfect soft landing after wrecking a Kobe burger and its “Hangover Remedy” with smashed avocados, bacon sun-dried tomatoes, and fried eggs//5. -Markets and the Meatpacking district: Chelsea Market (cheaper) is located in the Meatpacking district , as the Gansevoort Market. These Markets personify old New York – offering a curated selection of locally produced goods and fare. The industrial inspired architecture brings together the history of the market while creating a modern communal space to eat, entertain and relax. Hipster, trendy and all in one. In Gansevoort we recommend the fine pizza from Luzzo, the excellent pad thai in Bangkok Bar, pies in La Sonrisa, the most creamy ice cream in  M’o and the Salty Pimp in Big Gay Ice Cream (carrying vanilla ice cream, caramel, sea salt and comes bathed in chocolate). Other markets are 1. Urban Space Vanderbilt , where you can find seat for restaurants that are with wait-list around Manhattan, such as Kuro-obi by Ippudo with its ramen,  Roberta’s, Delaney Chicken and Red Hook Lobster Pound), // 2. Union Fare Gastrohall: try poke and the birthday cake croissant // 3. Plaza Food Hall in 5th Av: cupcake from Billy’s Bakery, chocolate from FP Patisserie or La Maison du Chocolat or one crep of Vive la crepe // 4. City Kitchen in Times Square: Shushi, burgers, donuts. What else? // 5. Hudson Eats in World Trade Center: Mini cupcakes, bbq steaks and tuna burger.

Super building that offers best-ever burgers while a Juicebox plays The Police  //2.Black Tap: If you follow Casey Neistat, this place is a must to him. If not, get ready for a hipster and trendy place, where with no doubt you will have to wait a while but it is definitely worth it. American food and its splendor in Soho-also in Meatpacking //3. Burger Joint: hidden restaurant in a super 5stars hotel. However the local is not all luxury, just the burgers, as it is covered by graffitis and located in the basement //4.Jackson Hole Burger: Get in the american ambience //5.Ellen Stardust: classic diner in Broadway // 6. Teddys: Williamsburg´s bar and grill operating since 1987. The real burgers in Brooklyn.  //7. Shake Shack: Amazing price but a bit overrated. -Drinks at night (combined with rooftops): 1. Back room: It is one of only two speakeasies in New York City that operated during Prohibition and is still in existence today. The vintage 1920’s décor, period pieces and secret room behind the bookcase, provide the perfect setting for any night// 2. Standard hotel: Le Bain is a penthouse discothèque and rooftop bar on the top floor of The Standard, High Line in the Meatpacking District featuring world-famous DJs, a state-of-the-art sound system and exclamation-inspiring views. Clinton Street backery: The best hot-spot in New York. The lore about their brunch lines they cannot deny, but try them at dinner, when the lights are dim, the crowds calm, and the food is anything but ordinary. Yes, they serve pancakes after dark. Delightful  pancakes //4. Mike´s coffee shop: Classic in Brooklyn // 5. Soho house: This hotel offers delicious breakfasts  // 6. Where to sleep:

Whyte (Brooklyn): The Hotel was born with the discovery of a factory on the Williamsburg waterfront. The building was constructed in 1901 and has been converted into a 70-room hotel. Best of Brooklyn ever.

Nyl0 Hotel (Manhattan- Upper East Side): Its signature is urban, industrial design with the energy, color and fashions of New York’s Jazz Era, creating a comfortable, social and stylish hotel experience. Best in Manhattan for price and quality -less expensive than Wythe. Just by having a look at the pictures you will know in a second.
