EMIKO

Location: Viktualienmarkt 6 (U Marienplatz: Altsadt). Monday to Friday from 6.30 to 11.00 and on the weekends/holidays from 6.30 to 14.00 (for those who were looking for late-brunch on Sunday). You can reserve here online/by phone.

What will you find: We usually go on Sundays to have brunch. With this weather, we spend the morning/early afternoon having a complete banquet and then, full relax. This is what I call a major pleasure. Friends of us recommended us to go and try EMIKO, the restaurant from Hotel Louis, in front of Viktualienmarkt. We tried once the terrace in summer with a cool Japanese ice-cream. What we most value from a brunch is, besides the design of the restaurant and the dishes, the quality and variety in the menu. All requirements fully complied. Excellent service -not the oppressive ones that I scape from, but one of the bests from Munich-, modern asian design and comfortable atmosphere. Also if you are vegan, bio-foodie or just healthy people: this is your hot-spot. The buffet offers fresh products from Viktualienmarkt, plus additional warm dishes that you can order, such as organic scrambled eggs or sunny-side up with salmon, cheese, bacon or tomato for instance, incredible vegan pancakes (one of the best I have tried, with vegan chocolate and tofu) or sweet banana omelette. In the meantime you can pick a natural pressed juice -orange, grapefruit, pineapple- from the beverage corner and a warm Japanese tea -sure also cacao, chocolate, coffee or any other type of tea. What do we recommend? The delicious green kind-of-smoothies or with mango, the tofu with cashews, the high rated quinoa with any of the multiple creamy cheeses, pieces of salmon with spicy mustard, bio yogurt with groats, cereals or fruits and of course the tomato delights with avocado. Amazing tastes, original dishes and worth to go again next weekend. Let’s go foodies.

Tip: If you are those who prefer dinner, note that the restaurant offers you an awesome menu. It is a trip through Japanese cuisine  where the modern and the classic tendencies are mixed by a sharing-table principle. Of course you can enjoy after a drink in the bar, where you can find creative cocktails using litchi, ginger and based in high class alcohol in the heart of Munich.
